Chase the Sun ("the app") is developed and operated independently. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it.

Location data
Chase the Sun uses your device location to find sunny spots near you and provide turn-by-turn navigation. Location is accessed in the foreground when you use the app and in the background only when navigation is active, to maintain GPS continuity during your drive. We do not store your precise location on our servers — it is used locally on your device to calculate nearby destinations and distances.
Usage data
We collect anonymised crash reports and performance data via Sentry to help us identify and fix bugs. This data does not contain personally identifiable information.
Purchase data
If you subscribe to Chase the Sun Premium, your purchase is processed by Google Play. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status. We do not store your payment card details — these are handled entirely by Google.
Trip data
When you save a trip, the destination name, sunshine score, distance, and date are stored locally on your device. This data is not transmitted to our servers.
Advertising data
Free users of Chase the Sun see banner advertisements served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect anonymised device identifiers and usage signals to serve relevant ads. We have configured AdMob to request non-personalised ads by default. Premium subscribers do not see any advertisements.
Email address
If you sign up to our launch notification list via chasethesun.app, we store your email address to send you a single notification when the app launches. We will not use it for any other marketing purpose without your explicit consent.
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the following third-party service providers who process data on our behalf:
Trip history, preferences, and settings are stored locally on your device and deleted when you uninstall the app or use the "Delete my data" option in Settings. Crash reports are retained by Sentry for 90 days. Email addresses collected via our website are retained until you request deletion.

Chase the Sun is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
